On Wednesday, we had a visit from four City Academy players. They worked with Year 2 making a poppy wreath. This wreath is being presented at Premier League Christmas Truce Qualifier in RAF Cosford, Wolverhampton. They also worked with Year 5 and joined in with a lesson about Walter Tull, one of the first black, English footballers. Walter Tull also served as a second officer during World War 1. The players were very impressed with the children’s knowledge and presentation skills.
Next week, Year 5 will be taking the tram into Manchester to visit ‘The Soldiers Gate’ memorial at Victoria Station which commemorates the soldiers who passed through the gate on their way to Europe to fight in World War 1.
On Wednesday next week, 6C will be walking to the Angel War Memorial in Blackley.
