Well, the time has finally arrived for our year 6 trip to Ghyll Head next week! The children are all very excited and we are looking forward to a whole range of fun, new experiences and challenges. We would like to take this opportunity to remind you about a few important things to ensure the smooth running of the trip.
6L will leave on Monday 5th March and return in time for home time on Wednesday 7th March.
6W will leave on Wednesday 7th March and will return in time for home time on Friday 9th March.
Children should arrive at school for 9:45 and make their way to the KS2 hall. You are welcome to wait with children until the coach arrives at 10am. If your child attends breakfast club, or you wish for them to arrive at the normal time, this is also fine.
Please remember to provide your child with a healthy packed lunch (6L Monday, 6W Wednesday) in line with school policy. Sandwiches should be wrapped in foil and brought to school in a named carrier bag that can be disposed of easily. Children will also require a bottle of water which they can keep and refill for the duration of the visit. Please do not send any plastic Tupperware dishes etc. Can we also take this opportunity to remind parents that no sweets, chocolate, or any food items should be in the children’s suitcases which are taken to the bedrooms. We appreciate your cooperation with this and thank you in advance for respecting the Ghyll Head house rules.
Please remember to pack lots of warm clothing, especially in light of the recent weather! This should include at least 4 jumpers or tracksuit tops, 3 pairs of tracksuit bottoms, leggings or light trousers (no jeans), 4 t.shirts or long sleeve tops, underwear, lots of thick socks, hat, gloves, scarf, and a warm coat. Children will need slippers or a pair of shoes for indoors and an old pair of trainers for outdoors. You can bring your own wellington boots if you have them but the Centre will provide them along with walking boots and waterproofs. Please also remember to pack pyjamas, a dressing gown, a towel and toiletries. Please note NO AEROSOLS allowed.
All medication must be labelled from the pharmacist with the doctor’s instructions. If your child requires medication whilst away, you must discuss this with Miss Norris and Mrs Livesey and have completed the relevant forms on Monday morning. Any return travel sickness tablets should be placed in an envelope with your child’s name on with clear instructions for the coach journey home. Please make sure that asthma inhalers aren’t close to empty and are in date.
It is fine to bring a hairdryer but no hair straighteners, curling tongs etc are permitted for health and safety reasons. No mobile phones to be taken by children. Accompanying staff will contact school regularly to update about the safe arrival at Ghyll Head etc. Text messages will be sent to parents/carers to keep you informed.
Children do not require any spending money for the trip.
If you have any urgent questions regarding the trip, you can e-mail firstname.lastname@example.org – this e-mail will be monitored today (2nd March) and over the weekend.
Non- urgent questions can be asked on Monday morning – please contact Miss Norris or your child’s class teacher.
Thank you for your continued support and cooperation.
